Weakness in the OS
Since Android roughly has 95% market share, almost all the attacks exploit the loopholes in the OS to infect the devices. I think Android has not done much when it comes to safeguarding the device. Yes, there are apps available which you can use to prevent malware attacks but they don't prove to be much effective. The OS itself does not have any intelligent detection tools which can prevent the malware spread. I think this is the major reason why smartphones remain as the most vulnerable endpoint.
