Even though it’s not really possible to state a precise date yet, it’s true that with Level 5 (fully autonomous) vehicles there will be no road accidents in the future or they will be extremely rare and caused by the eventual technological failure that sometimes can’t be avoided. This is expected by between 2030 to 2035, so more than 10 years from now. Level 5 autonomous prototypes already exist.

@Ariella good point... I would say it depends on the way technology develops and if A.I. catches right way to jump leap ahead... other way it gonna be sometime before...

Some people are overly optimisitic about what AI can do to improve our lives. For example, in an online discussion of leading causes of deaths today, someone claimed that there will be no accidents in future because there will be no more reckless human drivers. I really doubt that will ever happen -- certainly not in within the next 10 years.
