@Larry: I do agree that they can't simply block all extensions. They do need to give the users the freedom to do whatever they want on the browser. However, what Chrome needs is a more thorough audit of the extension and the potential vulnerabilities of it. The browser has to be more vigilant about the traffic generated from the extension. At the end of the day, people are not going to blame the extension - they will switch to another browser which they consider is more secure.

Well,this isnt so much a rogue externison as a valid one being hijacked. In some ways, its a harder problem because once you find one they hijack another.

They need to have extensions to do what users want done.

This attack method is really interesting. Are there a lot of rogue extensions? I wonder if Chrome will eventually shut down the extension marketplace.
