It would be an interesting plot twist if these things were added to distract from the true origins. Then you must wonder who else would be interested in doing such a thing. What super villian has set such a thing in motion?

So either those clues point them in the right direction, or the perpetrators are extremely clever and plant these things in order to throw them off the trail -- probably the former, as most don't bother so much in covering their tracks.

This is a really interesting approach. It's easy to suspect the North in such an attack. It sounds like they're hot on the trail. I guess Google Play Protect didn't detect the malware?
