<1.34x to 13.9x faster for common deep learning models.> that's quite a range from just 34% to 139%. I can guess those who want to sell people on it would stress the bigger figure.

As Elon Musk warns, we should build these AI programs with ways to understand how they achieve their results so that we don't accidentally create "monsters" that we don't understand at all. It's not as extreme as Terminator robots, but researchers have already seen that AI tasks can "cheat" us if they aren't carefully designed. And there's also the classic problem in early image recognition where algorithms distinguish images based on artifacts that humans don't suspect -- leading to surprising failures when training data isn't curated.
